Interpretation Toward Books Song Bird: Matters of the Heart
“I’m not Mavis anymore.” For years, song bird Nikki Mills (aka Mavis Mills) dreamed of the freedom and lifestyle that came with being a platinum record artist. To get there, she put her career and son first and her love life on hold. Now an international singing sensation, Nikki discovers her reality is very different from what she had imagined. Determined not to be caged by the fan and media circus, Nikki struggles to protect her son, their relationship and lifestyle. That struggle is complicated by her desire for a love life. The unearthing of Nikki’s dark past, known only to her inner circle, creates a paparazzi whirlwind that threatens to destroy her. Can she find the courage to withstand the media storm? Can she transcend her past? How will she resolve matters of the heart? Set between 2000 and 2002, the themes in Song Bird centre on discovery, belonging, transformation, dealing with adversity, and matters of the heart.

Thank you, Christine M Knight for 'Song Bird'. I was becoming disenchanted with reading until I bought your sequel to 'Life Song'. Thank you for taking the story to yet another level of enjoyment. I don't know how you do it, but I as a reader, I am invested in your characters emotionally. The world too is so real! For other readers, 'Song Bird' has substance to it and yet is an incredibly easy read. After reading it, I felt positive about life and dealing with the challenges in it.Song Bird continues the Nikki Mills story begun in Life Song. This sequel is about the challenges and joys of success and the ripple effects on life, love, family, and relationships. The subplots beautifully mesh with the themes in the central plot. Song Bird was an absolute joy to read from start to finish and I really think it is 6 - much more than 5. Although I was satisfied with the unexpected twist in the ending, I still wanted another book ready for me to buy and read on. I really liked
Terrific. Should be made into a movie.

'Song Bird' takes readers on a different journey from the usual chick musician story. I found it a refreshing and compelling read. The novel is distinctly visual, a plus for me as I was able to believe in the landscape and the people. It was all very real for me. Knight's language is artful. When I read other reviews, I noticed that someone else thought the landscape functioned a s character. I do too. A novel for readers who don't want cliche romances and want something to savour.
Just loved this book. Why? The characters emerge as real people who I cared about. The world is vividly created so it was real to me. The story with its twists and turns was a page turner. I love that it is about the intimacy of love and the complex bonds of friendship. I recommend doing the whole journey with Mavis.
A wonderful and satisfying read on many levels. I loved all of the allusions to 'The Wizard of Oz'. They added to the insights into characters and were for me the icing on a rather delicious cake.
Hooked by Knight's stories, I bought her third novel 'Song Bird' which continues Mavis Mills journey.I love Knight's novels for the same reasons that I love Jane Austen's novels. They are character-driven stories set against the social and historical contexts of their times. Knight's stories date from 1988-2000. Knight's three books would make fabulous TV series. They are a saga.
