I have to be honest, this book is a complicated venture, both in terms of philosophically and just in terms of understanding the characters. Every time I read a book by Saramago I feel sad because he is no longer among us, to delight us with his writing, and that feels terrible. I felt this once more while reading this book, and I think I will feel it when I read the books I haven't read yet.Having said this, I had a wonderful time reading this book.
