Chronicle To Books Shadow Hills (Shadow Hills #1)

After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.   Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.

Evaluate Regarding Books Shadow Hills (Shadow Hills #1)
This review is also posted on my blog, In The Good Books.Reading Shadow Hills felt like going back in time to where all the books I read were paranormal romances cut from the same cloth. During this I wasn't feeling what the characters were, but feeling nostalgic, laughing "recurring dream sequence at the beginning! Old pal!" and "love interest who's so suddenly and deeply in love with our protagonist that he confesses his uber-secret non-human species! It's been too long!"So I kind of regarded

If I could describe Shadow Hills in three words, I would say: refreshing, beautiful, and captivatingit will capture your attention through most of its entirety. Phe is now one of my favorite characters all time (Funny because when I took the character quiz a few months ago, I got her)I loved how the plot was played out. Although there are parts that are a teensy bit predictable, others will leave you shocked because you just wont see that coming. The secret was nothing I could have thought off

Shadow Hills has been a hotly anticipated 2010 release around the blogosphere, and now I know why! Anastasia Hopcus has delivered a great story combining elements of gothic mystery with Greek mythology, shady town secrets, great characters, and one of the hottest YA romances Ive read in a while. If youve been getting a little tired of the same old paranormal romance, then this book is for you. I can guarantee you wont have read anything quite like it before! I raced through this book in one

If I was in middle school, I probably would have loved this book. Because I am a grown adult, I found it cheesy. (But in the author's defense, middle school/high school kids are cheesy). I didn't believe the characters. The dialogue was lame. I was most annoyed with the breaks within chapters. You know, where there is a double space to create a natural pause? Well, there was nothing natural about it. It seemed like when there was a break there was no need for it and when I wanted a break there

Loved it. I would have never guessed that this is Anastasia Hopcus debut novel. She is an extraordinary writer. Original, addictive and wonderfully descriptive. It is a fast paced and gripping read that had me constantly guessing. When one mystery was solved another would arise. One scene also had my heart pumping and gave me chills. I also loved the paranormal element in this story is refreshingly different from other books out there. A mix of science, magic and mythology. Phe, the main

Persephone Archer, otherwise known as Phe, is a dealing with the sudden death of her sister, Athena. Her death is shrouded in mystery and Phe is trying to piece it all together. Athena's last diary entry discussed a prep school called Devenish, located in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts, many miles away from where they live in Los Angeles. Phe is also dealing with very vivid and scary dreams which started as soon as Athena died. There's nothing left in LA for Phe; her parents have checked out after

My Thoughts:The back story of Shadow Hills is so deep and well developed that you cant help but suspect everyone right off the bat, even though youre not sure what exactly you are suspecting them of. The first chapter is a fabulous opening. Its informative, visual, and suspenseful. You get a small dose of everything the book has to offer. The characters all have a unique personality that doesnt get lost, no matter how many twists and turns Anastasia puts them through. Phe is ballsy and
